This is the Hindu Swastika NOT the Nazi Swastika

Remember, remember the 3rd of September

On 3 September 1939 UK Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain gave this speech.

“This morning the British Ambassador in Berlin handed the German Government a final Note stating that, unless we heard from them by 11 o’clock that they were prepared at once to withdraw their troops from Poland, a state of war would exist between us.

“I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received, and that consequently this country is at war with Germany.

“You can imagine what a bitter blow it is to me that all my long struggle to win peace has failed. Yet I cannot believe that there is anything more or anything different that I could have done and that would have been more successful.

“Up to the very last, it would have been quite possible to have arranged a peaceful and honourable settlement between Germany and Poland, but Hitler would not have it.

“He had evidently made up his mind to attack Poland whatever happened, and although He now says he put forward reasonable proposals which were rejected by the Poles, that is not a true statement. The proposals were never shown to the Poles, nor to us, and, although they were announced in a German broadcast on Thursday night, Hitler did not wait to hear comments on them, but ordered his troops to cross the Polish frontier. His action shows convincingly that there is no chance of expecting that this man will ever give up his practice of using force to gain his will. He can only be stopped by force.

“We and France are today, in fulfilment of our obligations, going to the aid of Poland, who is so bravely resisting this wicked and unprovoked attack on her people. We have a clear conscience. We have done all that any country could do to establish peace. The situation in which no word given by Germany’s ruler could be trusted and no people or country could feel themselves safe has become intolerable. And now that we have resolved to finish it, I know that you will all play your part with calmness and courage.”

The new war that will kill many more than the great wars and starvation put together.

Today and this week the people of the UK will pay their respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the great wars. Millions lost their lives. The brave personnel of the Armed forces gave their lives and had they not done so many of the freedoms and you and I take for granted — like the right to free speech- would not be available to us. Please spare a moment to pay tribute to the ultimate sacrifice each and every one of these brave souls made for us. However today we are all in a war that will kill more people than the two great wars and starvation ever will- in your lifetime.

In 1985 millions of people were moved to see these horrific pictures at Live Aid 1985.

I defy anybody to fail to be moved by those videos, although one of my happiest moments was when they brought the same girl on stage in Live Aid II who had made a full recovery.

Today we are fighting a bigger war, one that will no doubt lead to more deaths than the great wars and starvation combined.

This enemy acts slowly, so slowly we don’t notice. However when it strikes it has surrounded all its enemies and will thwart any attempt to fight it.

It’s Obesity

Why obesity is a disease of poverty
Starvation and obesity have the same common cause- poverty. Generally speaking high quality, low carbohydrate food which is high in nutrition is hand produced and expensive. Low quality, high carbohydrate, high fat food is cheap and mass produced. People who are cash poor generally speaking are time poor. Hence you will largely see obesity in lower income backgrounds. Those on lower incomes cannot afford expensive personal fitness trainers, expensive gym memberships etc. That’s why I do my utmost to keep prices affordable but it does lead to me being exploited by some clients.

Who wants you to be overweight?

Some of you may remember Superman III, in that movie one man said that whenever there is a problem someone gets rich.

So who gets rich from obesity? Is it the supermarkets; is it the fast food industry? No! It’s the taxman.

Your doctor doesn’t want you to smoke or drink or be overweight.

The taxman wants you to eat like a horse, drink like a fish and smoke like a chimney.

You’ll say smoking costs the NHS £5 billion a year (3) and that the taxman gets £9.5billion a year in duty. (4). Alcohol related harm overall costs the NHS in England £3.5 billion a year (5) and (6). In 2010 it was reported that alcohol contributes £14.6bn to the taxman (7).

Health problems associated with being overweight or obese cost the NHS more than £5 billion every year (8).

In real terms, taking into account minimum wage rises alcohol, unhealthy food and cigarettes are cheaper than ever. The time taken to earn the price of an alcoholic drink has never been so low. It’s simple maths.

Now if you smoke, drink and are obese you’ll die sooner, over your lifetime the taxman gets your taxes. The taxman saves your pension of £5881.20 a year if you die early. That doesn’t include other costs e.g. medical treatment. 70% of people don’t have a will (10). The taxman gets your estate as well when you die so it’s more for him

10 million people in the UK are over 65. The latest projections are for 5½ million more elderly people by 2034. The number will have nearly doubled to around 19 million by 2050. In 2010/11 pensions cost £100 billion (11). Assuming the 19million are on £113.10 per week its £111742800000 per year in pensions the taxman can save if they die early. Don’t forget there are fewer people paying in now as the birth rate is falling!

So what should we do? If I had my way, cigarette and alcohol duty should rise markedly yearly. We should introduce a sugar tax. We should do much more to combat obesity and be financially more prudent on all levels.

The fastest way to cut down obesity and starvation

In the land and resources it takes to feed one meat eater you can feed at least 15 vegetarians.

The best method to avoid obesity is to turn vegetarian or preferably vegan. I can’t make my fat loss clients go vegetarian or vegan. I can only advise.

However those that do all report a very safe, very rapid loss of excess body fat with a massive improvement in health.

Those that do all- without exception- report a very rapid, very safe loss of excess body fat. They all report a massive rise in energy and improvement in health.

Why?

Every time you eat meat then you are taking in animal fat, there is no way around that. However, you expose yourself to DASH.

Disease. You are exposing yourself to any disease that the animal had. I have often wondered if that is part of the reason why statistically speaking a lower risk of cancer. Imagine if you ate some liver or kidney which had metastasised cancer in it?

Antibiotics. You are exposing yourself to any antibiotics that the animal was on.

Steroids. Again you are exposing yourself to any steroids that the animal was on.

Hormones. Farm animals are often force-fed hormones. I have often wondered if that is part of the reason why statistically speaking female vegetarians have a lower risk of fibroids and breast lumps and the like.

So what would I advise you to do?

Firstly go vegetarian.

Join the Pro Veg Challenge- https://proveg.com/veggie-challenge/

Join the ProVeg Veggie Challenge and try eating more plant-based for 30 days. It’s better for your health, better for the planet and better for animals. Get a healthy start with your personal Challenge. They’’ll help you along the way with free tips, recipes and support.

Secondly get on multiple sources of income.

When you go on maternity leave your income halves. Minimum wage is £7.83 per hour for those over 25. Let’s assume you work for 40 hours per week. That equates to £313.20 per week. After tax and national insurance that works out at £274.38.

Childcare per child is £45 per child per day. Assuming you work for 5 days that works out at £225 per week. Hence a mother who returned to work would take home £274.38-£225= £49.38 per week.

That works out at £1.23 per hour over a 40 hour week.

Many people are on zero hour contracts so they don’t know one week to the next if they have work. Inflation is 3%. Wage rises if you are lucky are 1%. Hence your wages are worth less and less. Hence many people cannot afford to have kids.

Worse still many people can’t afford to put anything into a private pension. So they retire on the state pension of £113 per week- around 40% of what they were struggling to live on to start with. Hence so many pensioners work in supermarkets.

So what is the answer? Multiple sources of income.
